After the destruction Lacey has the chance to do what she has always wanted, to build and run her own B&B on Mimosa Key. The reader is invested, from the first page, in how Lacey puts her life and that of her daughter back together. When the storm breaks Lacey and her daughter emerge, ecstatic to be alive but devastated to see their life in shambles.
